What is a Bid Helper? |
|||
What is a Bid Helper?
The Bid Helper bids for you when you haven't got the time to follow a live auction. Simply choose your price range and the maximum number of bids that you want the Bid Helper to use. The Bid Helper will then bid automatically for you within your price range.
How does the Bid Helper know when to bid?
If there is just one Bid Helper booked to bid in an auction, the bids will be placed automatically within your range at any point within the final ten seconds. The countdown will then extend to a maximum of 10 seconds for each bid that is placed.
If there are two or more Bid Helpers bidding against each other, all the consecutive Bid Helper bids are placed immediately, and the price and countdown increase with each BidButler bid placed.
All auctions will count down from 24 hours with no time added to the counter for bids placed before the timer has reached two minutes. Once the timer has reached below two minutes the counter will extend to a maximum of 10 seconds per bid placed and will not increase the timer beyond two minutes regardless of how many bids are placed. This means that once an auction has gone below two minutes, further bids placed will never increase the counter over two minutes.

Do you have any bidding tips? |
|||
There are some tips that can help you be a smart bidder!
These tips won’t give you guaranteed winning results, but they may give you an edge up on your competition when it comes to bidding on an auction.
TIP ONE
Place your bid late
Watch the countdown and try to place your bid in the final ten seconds. If the timer has reached this point, you know the auction will end with you as the winner unless another bid is placed. It also gives you the opportunity to watch the bidding unfold and saves you time in the long run.
TIP TWO
Start with the cheapest products
Although you can get some incredible bargains on our most expensive items they are the more competitive auctions attracting a large quantity of bidders. Our cheaper products tend to have fewer bidders, meaning you’re much more likely to win. A perfect way to perfect your auction skills!
TIP THREE
Use the BidButler to your advantage
The BidButler is a powerful tool, if you get the timing right your butler can scare off other bidders. Nobody likes to see their bids matched over and over again by your all conquering BidButler. Many users give up and see themselves as no match for the mighty bidbutler!
TIP FOUR
Turn others BidButlers against them
Some people believe if they place their bidbutler that he will do all their work and there is no longer a need to watch the auction. It is easy to swoop in and win with a quick single bid if your rival has gone to grab a drink of water leaving the bidding to their butler who they believe will protect their investment. Showbidders tend to set the ‘Bid To’ value of their BidButlers to a round number, so watch out for this and you might be able to snap up a bargain by simply clicking on the “Bid†button when a BidButler has just finished.
TIP FIVE
Keep an eye on what other bidders are up to
The last ten bids placed is visible to everyone. Try to work out who is bidding and when they are bidding. Timing is everything so maybe you can work out the perfect time to swoop in and grab the lot.
TIP SIX
Scout out the competition
Look and see how many different bidders have recently bid on an auction. You’re more likely to win if there are fewer bidders interested in an item. Scout of the names of bidders and make note of their style and use it against them for future auctions.
TIP SEVEN
Bid at the right time of day
The number of bidders varies throughout the day – smart bidders can use this to pick up bargains by bidding when others are busy sleeping, at work or out for dinner.
TIP EIGHT
Fine-tune your BidButler
If you use the BidButler to bid on your behalf, do not set your ‘Bid To’ value to a round number as other bidders will be watching out for this.
Good luck Showbidders!

Where can I see who is bidding on an auction? |
|||
|
To see who's bidding on an auction look under 'Bid history' on the product detail page to see a list of the most recent bidders on that auction and the type of bid they placed.
|
|||
Why am I not the highest bidder when I have just placed a bid? |
|||
When a bid is placed, it will always be the highest bid, but might get out-bid very quickly. This can happen if there are many bidders or if there's another user's BidButler bidding on the auction too. You might not see this simply because other bids have been placed with a few seconds of each other - sometimes even within the same second!
To help you make your bidding more effective, here are some tips:
* Look at the bid history, check the number of bidders on the auction and the type of bid placed. If there are only single bids, try placing a BidButler, a BidButler can not only save you bids, but also help you to become the highest bidder.
* Try looking for a similar auction with fewer bidders, you can often find a similar product on auction at the same time with fewer users. You could pick up a bargain without needing to place as many bids.

Can I bid on a future auction? |
|||
We ask you to wait until the auction goes live and the auction countdown has begun. These auctions are shown in the drop down menu under "live auctions".

How can I find the different auctions available on the site? |
|||
There are several different ways to find items on Showbid. Here are a few ways of finding the different auctions on the site:
Live auctions
We have conviniently placed a list of live auctions on the homepage for Showbid. You can see highlighted auctions from your home page. We make it simple to find your deal!
If you are looking for a larger list of items we have also created a drog down menu of all categories of llive auctions. You can then categorize what kind of item you are looking for and see what is available for bidding but as always - if you do not see an item you want don't forget to check back as we rotate our auctions constantly and take customer demand into consideration.
At Showbid we have also spearheaded a way for your bidding experience to be the best it can be by creating a search bar. Simply enter the keyword of what you are looking for and we will do the work for you matching your keywords to bid items we have on our site!
Bidding on items you love could not get any easier than with Showbid!
Future auctions
'Future auctions' are auctions that will start in the future. Please click in the drop down menu "All categories" on 'Future auctions' and you will see some of the auctions that we plan to run in the coming days and weeks.
Ended auctions
To have a look at all auctions that have ended, please click on "All categories" and select "Ended auctions" - you will see a list of all the auctions that have ended, along with the price that they sold for.
Auction ID
Every Showbid auction has its own unique auction ID. You will find this ID beside the coloured dot at the top of the auction header (just above the picture of the item), on the auction detail page (you can also see it in the address bar of your browser) . Please always state this auction ID if you have a question regarding a particular auction.
With our search feature we also make this auction ID work to your advantage if you want to quickly find a paticular auction.

|||
How can I redeem my vouchers? |
|||
We occasionally give away different types of vouchers to make your Showbid bargains even better value. Here’s an overview of some of the different vouchers that are available:
Vouchers linked to special offers
We sometimes give away other vouchers, for example in return for completing surveys or during “happy hours†on the site. These vouchers may have specific restrictions and always have an expiry date. Just like Welcome Vouchers, they can only be used against the final price of an auction that you’ve won.
Redeeming your vouchers
Once you've won an auction, you'll automatically be transferred to a confirmation page where you'll be able to enter your voucher code. Don't forget to redeem your voucher, as once you've confirmed your win you'll no longer be able to use it. Please note, that if you use a voucher with a value that exceeds the auction end price, the remaining voucher credit will expire.
|
|||
How can I watch an auction? |
|||
You can watch an auction if you click on "Watch auction in MyAccount" in the top right hand corner of an auction detail page. The list of all watched auctions you'll find in "MyAccount > Auctions" under "Watched Auctions".
When you choose to watch an auction, our system will automatically send you an email notification as soon as the auction begins its 24-hour countdown.
You can choose to deactivate this email notification by removing the cross from the box that states "Notify me by email" on the top right of the Watched Auctions page.
|
|||
How many auctions can I win within a 28 day period? |
|||
|
Within a 28 day period the maximum number of auctions you can win is eight. We do this so everyone has a chance of winning our amazing deals.
Why can I only bid on eight auctions at the same time?
We don't want you to waste any bids or time on auctions outside the eight wins within a 28 day period. Therefore we block you from bidding on more than eight auctions at the same time. With every auction you win, we block one Auction slot out of these eight for 28 days until this Auction slot is free again.
